Fly-Fishing
Learn from professionals while they take you on many different waters including: the Elk River, Michel Creek and Bull River Drainage. The most popular Elk River provides panoramic views of gorgeous mountains and lush greens and incredible opportunities to catch Wild Westslope Cutthroat Trout, Bull Trout and Mountain Whitefish.

Golf
The Elk Valley provides some fantastic options for golfers and Fernie's 18 hole championship course is no exception. From beginners to advanced golfers, this course provides many challenges. Water hazards on all but three holes, and the greens will put your putting skills to the test. FOUR!

Hiking and Wildlife Viewing
Hiking in Fernie ranges from leisurely strolls along rivers and lakes to high-alpine ridge walks and climbs. The terrain is beautiful and varied and guides will help to ensure your trek is complete by spotting incredible wildlife.

Horseback Riding
Enjoy an afternoon ride through the forest along natural Elk trails. Choose from 5 different experiences, including the popular The Cedar Pasture 1 hour ride and The River Run a half day ride that provides gorgeous views of Hosmer mountain. You'll also get a chance to see Rocky Mountain Sheep, Mountain Goat and large populations of Elk, Deer, Moose, and Bear (Black and Grizzly), with ample photo opportunities.

Kayaking
For the most extreme fun, why not try inflatable kayaking. Easy to get in, easy to get out and almost too much fun to describe in words. Challenge the swift Upper Elk River with it's beautiful and scenic trip. Great for first timers! Raging Elk Canyon provides the ultimate in adventure. Challenge the lower canyon with 15 kms of wilderness and white water.

Mountain Biking
Fernie Alpine Resort offers cross country, downhill, single track and dual slalom trails with and without chairlift access. With 37 lift access trails to choose from, dare to challenge yourself to something new! Fernie also boasts many other accessible trails. Stop by one of the local shops on 2nd Ave and get your trail map for even more riding locations.

Scenic River Trips
Take a leisurely float in the summer sun, down Fernie's pictureque river. With a guide and oarsman to point out the wildlife and mountain ranges, and to keep you on a steady course, all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the scenery with your friends and family.

White Water Rafting
Rapids, cliff jumping, beautiful mountains and lots of wildlife can all be enjoyed while white water rafting. Try the Raging Elk Canyon, as it carves 15kms through the Rockies with towering peaks, vertical canyon walls and try out some cliff jumping. If your looking for something a little more adventurous (and guaranteed to get you wet) then the Bull River is for you. 2/3/4 class rapids make for lots of thrills.
